New MODL Announced

With effect from 30 July 2007, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has announced a revised Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL). The changes have resulted in one occupation being removed from the MODL and a further nine occupations being added.

The following occupation was removed from the MODL:

General Electronic Instrument Tradesperson 4314-11

From 30 July 2007, the following occupations were added to the MODL:

Architect 2121-11
Computing Professional - specialising in Sybase SQL Server 2231-79
Quantity Surveyor 2122-11
Painter and Decorator 4421-11
Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Avionics) 4114-15
Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) 4114-11
Locksmith 4115-15
Optical Mechanic 4999-11
External Auditor 2212-11

Successful applicants who nominate one of the MODL occupations can add a further 15 points to their overall score under this visa type and also expect priority processing.

Please note that from 1 September 2007, all applicants seeking to claim MODL points will be required to demonstrate that they have at least 12 months work experience (in the 24 months preceding the application being lodged) in that MODL occupation or a closely related occupation.
